Post 16 – Student RC,

I’d first like to say thank you because I couldn’t have done it without you. Not only have you helped me pass my GCSEs; but you have given me confidence, the ability to trust and rely on an educator, and to be myself. I felt so comfortable and welcome in your presence, a feeling I had never felt in school. You gave me confidence to ask questions, to speak up for myself, and confidence in the sense that I am not alone. You were all so good to me, and the solace I felt in I.W.Y.S. was something I never thought I’d feel in education again. I thought I was there to focus solely on my core subjects, but you gave me the opportunity to have fun and explore my own interests – and, I never thought I’d say this, but you made me want to come to school!

You filled me with enough courage to face school again and take my exams and for this, I cannot thank you enough. I absolutely would not have done this without you all. The effort you put into teaching me (e.g. learning new subjects yourselves in order to help me) was so helpful and I thank you for that. No other adults would have done that.

Because of you all I received a 6 in English Language; a 5 in English Literature; a 4 and a 3 in Combined Science; and a 4 in Maths. I passed every subject. I am beyond relieved and happy with my results.

I’m now in college studying A Level Media Studies, A Level English Language and WJEC Criminology. I am flourishing thanks to the support I received from you all, and I find college much better than high school as it gives me more independence and freedom (which is what I needed). My mental health started to improve the first moment I walked into I.W.Y.S and I find it so amazing how you completely transformed me into what I am now. My mum keeps saying she can’t believe I am the same person, the difference between how I was before I met you all and how I am now is astronomical.

Post 16 – Student WB

I have really enjoyed every single second of it. I can remember my first day like it was yesterday. Charmaine and Joy, are so patient, caring, loving, and kind. I.W.Y.S is such a lovely place, all of the students are loving, caring and kind. Everyone gets on with everyone. I would really recommend I.W.Y.S, to anyone who can’t cope with big crowds or anyone who suffers from anxiety.

I am so proud to have been a part of the I.W.Y.S team. Since attending I.W.Y.S, my confidence and motivation skills, have improved massively. I.W.Y.S, has also helped me to go out of my comfort zone, to go above and beyond, by achieving things, that I never would of. Charmaine has also helped to boost my confidence skills, by arranging for me to do my work experience at the Quarter Spode Pot bank, as a sound engineer. I really do appreciate everything that I.W.Y.S, have done for me over the years, if it wasn’t for them, then I wouldn’t be the young man that I am today.
